The faculty “Pedagogy and Psychology” was opened in 1993 (order No. 163/1), the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Turdubaev KT was appointed as the head of the department “Pedagogy and Psychology”. From 2000 to 2003, the department was renamed the department “Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education”, head. The department was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Sakieva SS By the decision of the Academic Council and by the order of the rector (order No. 287. From September 26, 2003), the department was renamed the department “Pedagogy” and the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Toktogulov Satylgan Toktogulovich was elected head of the department.
From 2005 to the present, the head of the department is Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Sakieva Sayipzhamal Salaidinovna. September 1 – 2012, the department was renamed into the Theory and Methods of Primary Education Department.
Currently, the Department of Theory and Methods of Primary Education provides training in the direction of:
the direction of 550,700. Pedagogy (bachelor);

personality-oriented primary school education;
preparing children for school;
pedagogy of primary education;
theoretical foundations of primary education;
theory and technology of aesthetic education of schoolchildren;
methods of teaching elementary mathematics;
new educational technologies;
individualization of learning;
methods of teaching Kyrgyz language in primary school;
theory and methods of speech development with practical expressive reading;
the introduction of linguistics with the practice of calligraphy;
the development of primary school children in the process of learning mathematics;
theory and methods of educational work;
theory and methods of speech development with practical expressive reading;
the introduction of linguistics with practicing calligraphy;
methods of teaching disciplines;
methods of formation of mathematical competences of future primary school teachers, etc.

Teachers of the department prepared textbooks, educational, teaching and visual aids, force buses for the disciplines assigned to the department. When conducting classes, visual materials are used (stands, tables, CDs, video films, interactive whiteboard, etc.).
